South Windsor For the Kids is a club at SWHS that works to raise money for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center through a variety of different fundraisers. As a member of this club, you would be planning and participating in fundraisers that you come up with.
In addition to this, we also are working towards putting on a dance marathon in February where the entire club, other SWHS students, and children and families from Connecticut Children’s medical center come out to reveal and celebrate all of our fundraising efforts for CCMC. We have food, music, games, and a bunch of different activities going on. As a member of this club you would be helping plan this event and different activities.
Many of the children at CCMC spent a lot of time in their childhood in the hospital, meeting with doctors and getting different treatments and procedures. Our goal is to give these kids a night where they can really be a kid and have fun playing games with other kids and teenagers. In exchange, each of the kids tells us their story, so we get to see what their childhood was like and how they overcame different obstacles.
SWFTK is a part of HuskyTHON's JonaTHON program of mini dance marathons. UCONN puts on a much bigger version of the event we have through an 18 hour dance marathon. We work closely with representatives through Huskython to put on this event. You can see more about this at our Huskython page.
